Keeping veggies from floating... what's the trick? lol? - suction cups clip art

So I was I feeding my fish / snails and fresh cucumbers they want, but still floating. I know they sell to small clips with suction cups, but I live in a small town and had not given a chance to, until you do this, some tips on how to get the weight down with the cucumber slices with something that is not my fish is violated, but retain snacks in the bottom of the aquarium?
